I like the amount of detail that the author put in the story. I could imagine what each moment in the story would look like. I also liked the detail because it shows how the author really felt about the whole situation and how women were being treated in the work space. I liked the format and pace of the story because it didn’t feel rushed or too fast and nothing seemed like it was supposed to go somewhere else in the story.
A Helping Hand
A few weeks ago, I had just gotten home from a party. I was tired and bored. I checked my phone and went through my contacts. I don’t even know why I did it but I do random things when i’m bored. I scrolled to the bottom and saw one of my middle school friends contact. I hadn’t talked to him since we got out of school so I decided to call him. To my surprise he actually answered. There was a silence. I talked first with a simple hello. We talked for a while about funny moments about when we went to school together. We then talked about how we were doing and when he shared he said that he had mental issues. He also said that he had short term memory loss and he couldn’t remember lots of things. He also said that his parents had gotten divorced. I genuinely felt bad for him because he seemed so different from when I last saw him and he sounded sad. I then talked to him to try to make him feel better. At that moment I realized that that was one of the only times that I offered to help with something. When I checked the time of the call, It had been over an hour. I was surprised because it did not feel like an hour at all. We talked for a little more but then we said bye and hung up. I felt that I actually helped him and made him feel a little better. I also felt that we became better friends. What I learned from this is that it is good to help your friends or just anyone in general if you feel like they are feeling sad. I know that if I didn’t feel good one day and someone offered to help, that would make me feel just a little better. Finally, it is good to help people who need it even if it is only a few words of encouragement of a compliment.
