-The Hutchinsons all opened their papers and they where blank
-Tessie’s paper had a black dot on it though.
-Tessie had won the lottery
-But the prize of the lottery was death and the villagers started to throw rocks at her.
-Throughout the whole story we are supposed to think that who ever wins the lottery wins something, but it is quite the opposite because at the end we learn that you die if you win. I think that this might be their towns way of population control but disguise it as a celebration.
